Wiltshire edged out by world champ in sprint finish

University of Bath graduate Harry Wiltshire produced one of the best performances of his triathlon career to finish eighth in a world class field at the French Grand Prix.

Wiltshire, who won the World University Triathlon Championship in Switzerland last month, continued his good form in La Baule.

It was a particularly impressive performance as he ended the contest in a sprint finish with Tim Don, fellow Brit and recently crowned World Champion.

Don just edged out 23-year-old Wiltshire by two seconds to take seventh spot at the Grand Prix.

Wiltshire crossed the line after the 1500m swim, 40k bike ride and 10k run in 1:43.33.

He was fastest finisher for his Montpellier team, which also finished eighth overall in the event. France’s Stephane Poulat came home first in 1:42.45.

Wiltshire, who graduated with a 2.1 degree in Business Administration from the University of Bath’s School of Management this summer, followed up his success at the World University Triathlon Championships with a fifth place finish in the Aquathlon World Championships, also held in Switzerland last month.
