Julie secures podium finish in Minneapolis
Team Bath triathlete Julie Dibens kept up her terrific year with a third place finish in the Life Time Fitness race in Minneapolis.
Dibens was fifth coming out of the 1.5k swimming leg, but then established a two-minute lead during the 40k bike leg of the race.
Although she was overhauled on the 10k run by Portugal’s Vanessa Fernandes, who went on to win gold in 2:00.27.2 and by Australia’s Emma Snowshill, the winner last year who took silver in 2:01.06.3 this time around, she achieved a podium finish, Dibens crossed the finish line third in 2:02.10.0.
Dibens was more than a minute and a half clear of the fourth placed finisher in the Olympic distance triathlon.
She is now staying in America for Sunday’s (22nd July) New York City Triathlon.
