The British women’s bobsleigh team achieved their best finish of the season so far when they came sixth in round three of the 2008/9 World Cup this morning (Friday).
Â
The pair of driver Nicola Minichiello and pusher Gillian Cooke were fifth after the opening run, but dropped down a place after the second run on the Igls track in Austria.
Â
It means Minichiello climbs to eighth in the overall World Cup rankings following a ninth place finish with Jackie Gunn at Winterberg in Germany and then a seventh with Cooke, at Altenberg, also in Germany.
Â
The GB women’s bobsleigh crew do some of their training on the push-start track at the University of Bath.
Â
The Canada 1 crew of Helen Upperton and Heather Moyse took gold in Igls and leapt over Germany’s Sandra Kiriasis to top the overall rankings.
Â
