University of Bath student Marcon Bezzina has won her sixth medal at the Games of the Small States of Europe.

Bezzina won bronze for Malta in the under-63kg class judo competition at the Games in Cyprus.

It was her sixth medal at the Games of the Small States of Europe following her bronze in the individual competition and silver in the team event on her debut in 2003, her gold in the individual and silver in the team event in 2005 and her gold in the individual competition in 2007.

Bezzina missed out on a place in the final in Cyprus this time around when she lost her semi to Andorra’s Laura Salles Lopez, who went on to claim gold.

Bezzina, a Sport Performance student at the University of Bath, has represented Malta at the last two Olympic Games.

There was also a bronze in the men’s under-60kg for Kriss Law, another TeamBath judo player representing Malta.

James Falzon, a Sports Performance student at the University of Bath, couldn’t progress past the qualification round in the under-73kg class. He too was in action for Malta.
