Team Bath Buccaneers under-16 boys contest the National Indoor Hockey Championships this weekend after winning the regional indoor tournament.
Buccs go to the national qualifiers at Fleming Park in Hampshire as West champions after beating a strong Taunton Vale team on penalty flicks at the regional tournament.
This weekend the Buccs hockey lads will be up against the other regional winners and runners-up from around England, bidding for a place at the National Indoor Finals in Nottingham the following weekend.
The Buccs under-16 boys are managed by David Horler who has recently agreed a shirt sponsorship deal for the team with John Moore Sports.
Robbie Moore, managing director of JMS and an experienced hockey player himself, said: “I wish the Buccaneers the best of luck in this prestigious tournament this weekend.”
The team is coached is Phil Ball, a regular member of the TeamBath Buccaneers men’s firsts. He has been a major influence in their progression this season and has been well supported by assistant coach, Mark Brothers.
Indoor hockey is a very fast six-a-side game and the matches are 15 minutes each way. They are in a pool of five teams and their target is a semi-final place on Sunday afternoon.
