Livingston returns to World Cup action in Cairo
Beijing 2008 Olympian Katy Livingston contests her first World Cup event of the year in Cairo this week.
The 26-year-old modern pentathlete, currently 27th in the world rankings, returns to the city where she won her first World Cup title two years ago.
She is joined in the British team for Cairo by Mhairi Spence, ranked 16th in the world, teenager Freyja Prentice, the world number 23 who contests only her third World Cup, and by Katy Burke.
Beijing 2008 Olympian Nick Woodbridge competes in the men’s event in Cairo after finishing 21st at the first World Cup of the year in Mexico two weeks ago.
The world number 26 is joined in the men’s event by David Atkinson, Russell North and Steven Mason, aged 18, who contests his second World Cup.
The women compete in their heats tomorrow (Thursday) and bid for place in Saturday’s final. The men’s heats are on Friday, with the final on Sunday.
The action then moves to the UK when Medway hosts round three of the 2010 World Cup from 8-11 April.
