Bath graduates win European bronze

University of Bath graduates Heather Olver and Mariana Agathangelou joined forces to win the women’s doubles bronze medal at badminton’s European Championships in Manchester at the weekend.

The pair went down to top seeds and eventual silver medallists Petya Nedelcheva (BUL) and Anastasia Russkikh (RUS) 21-18 21-13 in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile Carl Baxter reached the quarter-finals of the men’s singles before losing to top seed Peter Gade from Denmark, who went on to win the title.

The trio all graduated from the University of Bath with degrees in Coach Education and Sports Development. During their time in Bath they were coached Pete Bush and now train at Badminton England’s National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes.
