Gabb through to Junior Wimbledon quarter-finals

TeamBath Tennis Academy player Richard Gabb and former TeamBath player Ashley Hewitt are one more victory away from a place in the boys’ doubles semi-final at Junior Wimbledon.

The pair are back in action today (Friday) in the quarter-finals after accounting for the number two seeds in a bumper second round contest yesterday.

Gabb and Hewitt took the first set against Damir Dzumhur (Bosnia & Herzegovenia) and Mate Pavic (Croatia) by winning the tie-break 7-3, but then went down 6-4 in the second set. Gabb and Hewitt fought back to win a mammoth deciding set 16-14.

Today they face the Russian pair of Mikhail Biryukov and Alexander Rumyanstev on court five with a place in the semis at stake.
