Biography >
Charlie took a big step up in 2006, earning her first international call-up and winning her first medals at a senior national championships.
Her first international selection was to swim at the 2006 European Junior Championships, in July, where she finished seventh in the 200m breaststroke final.
The following month she finished in joint bronze medal position with TeamBath SC team-mate Alex Warren in the open 100m breaststroke and also won bronze in the open 200m breaststroke at the ASA National Championships – her first senior national medals.
Charlie was selected as a member of the 25-strong to travel to Australia to gain more experience of events in December 2006. The tour culimated with the Queensland Open and Age Group Championships, where Charlie won two under-15 age group gold medals and followed that up with an open (senior) silver medal in the 200m breaststroke.
Charlie is a student at Kingswood School in Bath.
Says her sporting hero is TeamBath team-mate and fellow breaststroker, Darren Mew.
