Pair feature in Guardian’s list of top-50 Paralympic contenders

Two University of Bath-based athletes have been named in a national newspaper’s list of Britain’s top-50 contenders for gold medals at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Paul Blake is ranked at number 18 in The Guardian’s top-50 list, with Katrina Hart ranked at 37.

Blake struck gold in the T36 400m competing at his first World Championships in January this year. He also won a brace of silvers in the T36 800m and 1500m. Last month he set a world record for the T36 800m at the London Disability Grand Prix at Crystal Palace.

University of Bath Sports Performance graduate Katrina Hart has had a terrific 12 months, capturing the T37 100m gold at the Commonwealth Games last year and winning her first World Championship title in the T37 200m in New Zealand in January, when she also won bronzes in the T37 100m and the T35-38 4x100m relay.
