Burns strikes gold in Malaga

Team Bath judo player Andy Burns struck gold at the Malaga European Cup at the weekend.

Burns, a University of Bath Coach Education and Sports Development graduate, won the under-90kg class.

Adam Hall, who competes at under-100kg, won silver in Malaga – his first medal competing at this level.

Gregg Varey came fifth at under-66kg, with Jan Gosiewski seventh at under-73kg and Tom Reed seventh at under-81kg.

Two Team Bath judo players feature in the British team to compete at the European Under-23 Championships at Tyumen in Russia this weekend.

Kate Walker, who is studying for a Masters in Pharmacy, goes in the under-63kg class and Megan Fletcher fights at under-70kg.
The University of Bath is The Sunday Times ‘University of the Year’ 2011/2012.
