Panuga falls at quarter-finals

University of Bath student Panuga Riou made quarter-final exit from the  women’s singles at the English National Badminton Championships.

The 19-year-old Coach Education and Sports Development student went down 21-11, 21-15 to Kate Robertshaw, who went on to finish as runner-up at the tournament in Sheffield.

University of Bath graduates Mariana Agathangelou and Heather Olver reached the final of the women’s doubles, where they went down to Jenny Wallwork and Gabby White.

Another University graduate, Carl Baxter, reached the men’s single final but lost to top seed Rajiv Ouseph.

Last week Riou, Agathangelou, Olver and Baxter were all named in England teams to compete at this month’s European Team Championships in Amsterdam.
