Samantha Murray lands TeamBath MCTA’s first Challenger title
Team Bath MCTA tennis player Samantha Murray has won the Aegon GB Pro-Series Glasgow title.
The victory marks the first Challenger event title for a Team Bath tennis player.
In the final, 25 year-old Murray defeated seventh seed Alison Van Uytvanck of Belgium 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 to win her first ever title at a Futures level.
On her way to the final, unseeded Murray recorded some impressive wins over second seeded Romanian Cristina-Andreea Mitu, whom she beat in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 and fifth seeded Lithuanian Stephanie Vogt.
Murray joined Team Bath in 2010 after playing college tennis in the USA. She is coached by Dave Sammel who is the Head Coach at Team Bath MCTA’s International Academy.
Murray now travels to Canada for back-to-back $50k events in Quebec and Toronto.
