21 November 2014

Athletes competing in hockey, judo and modern pentathlon are the latest winners of Team Bath Athlete of the Month Awards.

The Awards, supported by Oakley and Ellis &Killpartrick, covered the period September and October.

The September awards went to Modern Pentathlete Samantha Murray and Team Bath Buccaneers hockey player Tim Davenport.

Murray became only the fourth British women in history to win individual gold at the Modern Pentathlon World Championships, and also helped the GB team to silver in the team event.

Davenport has been a prolific scorer for Team Bath Buccaneers this year, including a brace against Fareham in a 3-1 win early in the season.

Judo player Gemma Howell, a University of Bath student and Trendell Scholar, won the women’s award for October. She struck gold at the European Judo Open in Glasgow, following a bronze at the Zagreb grand prix in Croatia. These were her comeback competitions after a lengthy spell out with injury that stretches back to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Hockey player Liam Sandford was named the winner of the men’s award for October after his impressive start for Team Bath Buccaneers this year and also featured for the England under-21 side finishing second in the Johor Cup in Malaysia.

Tyron Dawkins, Oakley UK Brand Ambassador, presented awards to the latest winners. He said: “These were outstanding performances with well deserved results, once again highlighting the culture and determination within Team Bath. Congratulations to our winners”.
