Team Bath new girl Vangelee Williams helps Sunshine Girls eclipse England Netball at Copper Box

30 November 2016

New Team Bath Netball recruit Vangelee Williams played an impressive role in an outstanding defensive display as Jamaica beat England 66-49 in the opening match of the tri-Test series.

The Sunshine Girls were trailing 16-12 after the first quarter at the Copper Box Arena in London but staged a stunning comeback, inspired by Williams stealing possession from the centre pass at the start of the second period.

Jhaniele Fowler-Reid produced a shooting masterclass for the tourists, who used their physicality and athleticism to condone England to a heavy loss.

Team Bath Netball captain Eboni Beckford-Chambers returned to England’s starting seven for the first time since January, teaming up with former club colleague Stacey Francis in defence.

Former Team Bath players Serena Guthrie and Kadeen Corbin also featured for the Roses, who have chance to avenge the defeat in the second fixture of the three-match Series in Manchester on Friday evening.

Williams and Beckford-Chambers will be lining up in Blue and Gold for a tri-tournament featuring Team Bath Netball, Loughborough Lightning and Wasps Netball at the University of Bath on Saturday, January 7th. Tickets are available now – click here for more information.
