Scotland Women’s National Football Team training at the University of Bath in preparation for international double-header

The Scotland Women’s National Team (SWNT) are training at the University of Bath this week ahead of their upcoming international football friendlies against Australia and Costa Rica.

The 24-player squad are training on the football pitches during their four-day visit to the Team Bath Sports Training Village, as well doing strength and conditioning work in the Team Bath Gym and recovery in the 50m swimming pool and hydro pool.

Among the players are Real Madrid’s Caroline Weir, who has 96 caps, experienced defenders Emma Mukandi and Kirsty Smith, and former Bristol City forward Claire Emslie. Rangers trio Kathryn Hill, Chelsea Cornet and Emma Watson are all in the squad for the first time, along with uncapped striker Sarah Ewens.

Scotland, coached by Pedro Martinez Losa, take on FIFA World Cup co-hosts Australia in London on Friday (7th April) before hosting Costa Rica at Hampden Park on Tuesday 11th April.

The University of Bath has hosted training camps for several international squads in recent years including England Rugby’s men and women, Australia men’s rugby and South Africa netball.
