Football actionLaunched in 1999, the football programme at Team Bath is unique to football in that it provides players with an opportunity to combine full-time training with a university education.

Team Bath FC is the competitive focus of the programme. It has a squad of players recruited from professional or leading schools football, supported by a professional coaching staff.

Inclusion in this squad enables players to develop their game within a world class facility and in an elite training environment. There are numerous academic routes for Team Bath players to follow.

Sean Canham - Scores Winner - Hornchurch 001.jpgTeam Bath FC is enhanced by a comprehensive development structure; involving a traditional university football club, an U18 academy (in partnership with Beechen Cliff school) and an age-group programme from ages 6 to 16. In addition the club is under-pinned by a coach education department promoting a culture of football learning.

Football action 2Team Bath FC has enjoyed remarkable progress since its first game in 2000; It has progressed to level 7 in the football pyramid, in 2002 it became the first university side to reach the first round of the FA Cup for 122 years, and has seen a number of its former players go on to sign terms with professional clubs.

Team Bath FC was managed by the Director of Sport Ged Roddy. President of the club is Ivor Powell, a former player with QPR, Aston Villa and Blackpool, plus a Welsh international, who was also trainer/coach with Leeds United. He has now been with the University of Bath for 34 years.
