Recreational football

The university offer a wide range of recreational football throughout the week.

Six-a-side

Six-a-side games and competitions take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.

These games begin in a group stage and eventually the top two qualify for the knock-out stages.

Departmental football

For those that do not wish to play BUCS football, there is an opportunity for players to compete on Wednesday afternoons for their department team.

The Inter Department Football Competition (IDFC) runs throughout the year and provides a competitive yet relaxed atmosphere.

Each league’s top four then go into a knock-out competition and a final to find our best department in the university.

Inter-halls competition

We also organise an inter-halls competition.

This is battled out on a Saturday afternoon and it is unique in the way that both BUCS players and non-BUCS players play in the competition. This ensures a raised standard and challenges non-BUCS players.

Good performances in the inter-halls route can lead players into the BUCS squad if their captains believe they are performing to an exceptional standard each week.
