Staff Gold Rush
University staff took advantage of a free offer to try new sporting activities at the Sports Training Village on Friday 27 January’s opening Gold Rush event of the year.
The Staff Gold Rush was held to celebrate six months to go to the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.
It included an opportunity to try out a wide range of activities from bobsleigh on the push-start track to X-biking and from massage to netball.
The itinerary was as follows:
Free fitness suite access 1000-1900
Gym staff were on hand to offer induction advice.
Sessions ran on the hour throughout the day included: Weight Loss, Introduction to Cardio Fitness, Intro to Free Weight Exercises.
All users must were appropriate gym kit i.e trainers/shorts/tracksuit/t-shirts.

Free exercise physiology taster sessions / discussions 12-1215 and 1330-1345, and 1345-1400 at the Sports Training Village Sports Injury Clinic.

Netball / Boccia / Badminton challenges 1200 – 1400
Individual challenges in the Sports Training Village Sports Hall in the named sports.
Each challenge takes approximately five minutes each.

Free 30 minute Bobsleigh taster sessions on Push Start Track between 1200-1400.

If you are member of the Fitness facilities we invite you to bring along a staff colleague to the forthcoming open day. They will be able to train on the day for free.
If they enjoy their day and would like to become a regular member, they’ll pay no joining fee and get their first month for free.
As a reward for recommending your colleague, you’ll also get one month for free.
In addition, you’ll have yourself a regular training partner and someone to inspire and motivate you.
