Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Strength & Conditioning for Sport

The L3CCSC is awarded by 1st4sport Qualifications and has been developed in partnership with the Rugby Football Union. The L2CCSC is accredited at Level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework.

Entry Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold the 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Strength and Conditioning for Sport or have a minimum of 12 months’ experience in delivering strength and conditioning coaching on a regular basis.

Aims:

  • The L3CCSC is a vocationally related qualification that provides candidates with an opportunity to study and be assessed for both the practical and theoretical aspects of delivering strength and conditioning coaching programmes to a variety of participants in an appropriate environment.
  • The knowledge gained from this Certificate will enable candidates to develop an understanding of safe, ethical and effective strength and conditioning coaching. The Certificate qualifies candidates to coach the skills and techniques of strength and conditioning, as identified in the Practical Syllabus, to groups of adults and children.
  • The qualification might be used to generate evidence for a Level 3 N.SVQ in Coaching, Teaching and Instructing and other vocationally related strength and conditioning coaching qualifications.

  • Unit 1 Analyse Performance and Goal Setting
  • Unit 2 Design a Coaching Programme
  • Unit 3 Manage a Safe and Effective Coaching Environment
  • Unit 4 Deliver a Coaching Programme
  • Unit 5 Evaluate and Develop a Coaching Programme and Practice
  • Unit 9 Coaching Strength and Conditioning for Sport

Progression:

  • Employment, paid or unpaid, as a strength and conditioning coach in a number of environments. These may include a sports club, with an individual athlete or a team in an educational/youth environment.
  • Study further to achieve a Level 3 NVQ in Coaching, Teaching and Instructing Strength and Conditioning. Achievement of an NVQ or individual units of the national standards can only be achieved via an organisation/college approved to offer the NVQ and/or appropriate units.
