Fitness Testing

A vital part of leading a healthy lifestyle is to participate in some form of physical activity on a daily basis and simple things like taking the stairs instead of the escalator or walking instead of taking the bus contribute towards this.

However, sometimes individuals are apprehensive in taking up exercise for fear of the possible adverse consequences of not being fit enough. It is always advisable to get checked out by your GP prior to embarking upon a new exercise regime and always make sure you go through the induction process with a qualified fitness instructor or personal trainer,
if you actually decide to join a gym.

But how do you know if your health & fitness is improving or even when you are working too hard for your current physical condition?

Well, the Human Performance Centre can conduct some initial assessments of various aspects of your health and physical performance, which allow you to then monitor your own progress.

This screening process can include basic assessment of your body composition, blood glucose and iron levels, which could be linked to the nutritional analysis particularly if your overall goal concerns weight management. More importantly, we are able to monitor your bodies’ physiological responses to physical activity and therefore recommend specific effort levels based on heart rate, which can then easily be monitored by yourself during exercise.

For those individuals who are keen sportsmen/women, we are able to extend the depth of the analysis to include assessment of additional parameters specific to your sport, such as strength or power for example. Screening prices start from £50, depending upon the depth of the analysis required.
