Biography >
Mark started playing Futsal aged 19 during his first year at the University of Bath. Wanting to try something new, Mark went along to trials during fresher’s week where he quickly impressed and was picked for the 1st team.

Since then his love for the sport has grown and he has dropped 11-a-side football to focus on Futsal.

Over the last three years he has excelled with high levels of achievement in University Futsal tournaments and the FA Futsal National League.

During his first season 2008/09, Mark soon impressed with his touch, reliability on the ball and quick understanding of the game, helping the team to the final of BUCS, narrowly finishing as runners up.

To cap off his first year in the sport, Team Bath were selected to compete in the 6th European Universities Futsal Championships in Podgorica, Montenegro, meaning Mark was part of the first British squad ever to complete in the European Futsal Championships.

In the following season 2009/10 Mark continued to work hard on all aspects of his game and his efforts paid off.

In August 2010, this being only his second year playing futsal in Bath, Mark was selected to represent Great Britain as part ofTeam GB in the 12th World University Championships.

He says this was understandably a great honour. He competed against some of the best university teams and players in the world learning as much as possible in the 10 days they were out there. He says it was an invaluable experience to aiding his development as a futsal player.

In his third year playing futsal 2010/11, Team bath reached 3rd in the National League narrowly missing out on a play-off place while in BUCS they reached the semi-finals and were selected for the second time in the clubs young history to compete in the 8th European Futsal Championships in Tampere, Finland.

The University of Bath are the first British University futsal team to have twice competed in these championships.

Mark has many assets to his game, including his fitness, reliability and composure and his touch but above all, he says he plays for his team mates. That is what means most to him.

Mark is very committed to  the Team Bath Futsal Club, loves the atmosphere surrounding the club and says he wants to continue playing futsal here at the highest standard.

His amibitions are to gain selection for the 13th WUFC in 2012 and qualify for the 9th EUFC in 2012, win BUCS, win the National League playoffs and make selection for the England squad.
