Trio selected for Euro Champs

Three Team Bath triathletes have been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Duathlon Championships in Edinburgh later this month.

Aaron Harris and Mark Threlfall will both compete in the Junior Men’s event at the Championships, while Tom Room, a final year Natural Sciences student at the University of Bath, is selected in the GB Men’s under-23 team.
The race, on Saturday 16th June, will feature a 10k run, 40k bike ride and then a further 5k run.

Aaron, a 19-year-old University of Bath first year Sports Performance student, said: “I’m really looking forward to it. Being selected to represent my country means a lot to me.

“Training at the University has paid off and my consistency has improved,” he added.

Mark, also 19 and a former University of Bath swimmer, added: “We’ve both worked really hard over the winter.”

The pair said University of Bath triathlon coach Chris Volley and EIS strength and conditioning coach Mark Spivey have both played a major part in their progress this year.

Mark was runner-up at the National Junior Triathlon Championships last weekend – a race featuring a 750m swim, 19.3k ride and then a 5.2k run. Aaron finished just behind his Team Bath team-mate in third place at the championships.

The University of Bath has one of the leading university sports departments in the UK. Under its Team Bath brand, its success is based on the expertise and dedication of staff, and its excellent facilities, used by the community and Olympic medal winners alike.
