Sliders prepare for World Champs

Six British skeleton sliders will compete at next week’s World Championships in Lake Placid, USA.

British Skeleton, which is based at the University of Bath, has a full complement of three women competing at a World Championships for the first time.

Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games silver medallist Shelley Rudman is joined by Amy Williams and Donna Creighton (pictured) in the women’s competition. It is the first time Creighton has qualified to compete at a World Championships.

Reigning men’s world champion Kristan Bromley goes in the men’s event along with Adam Pengilly and Ant Sawyer.

The schedule for the skeleton events is as follows:

Thursday 26th February 2009: 09.15 local time (14.15 GMT) women’s skeleton heats 1 & 2
Friday 27th February: 08.45 local time (13.45 GMT) women’s skeleton heats 3 & 4
13.00 local time (18.00 GMT) men’s heats 1 & 2
Saturday 28th February: 13.00 local time (18.00 GMT) men’s heats 3 & 4
