18 January 2010

British sliders Adam Pengilly and Chris Type both won medals at the penultimate round of the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup in Calgary, Canada.

Pengilly took silver – his second in successive days in Intercontinental Cup competitions on the same track – with Type winning bronze.

Gold went to John Daly of the USA, his second win in two days, while Britain’s Ant Sawyer finished 13th.

In the women’s race, GB’s Donna Creighton came 10th with Sarah Sydney finishing 15th.

The Calgary races were the final Intercontinental Cup races counting towards national quotas of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games qualification period.

The British Olympic Association announces its selection of Team GB skeleton athletes for the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games on Friday 29th January.
