Teenage sprinter who has trained at the University of Bath for three years under Malcolm Arnold’s guidance and alongside Jason Gardener, the Athens 2004 Olympic relay gold medallist.
In September Ryan begins to study for a Foundation Degree in Sports Performance at the University of Bath, where he will combine training with continuing his academic studies. Ryan, who has his sights set on competing at the London 2012 Olympic Games, believes studying and training at the University will help improve his performances in coming years.
Ryan was selected as a member of Great Britain’s 4×100m relay team for the 2006 World Junior Championships in Beijing in August. He has a personal best of 10.51 seconds for 100m, which he set en route to silver at the 2005 English Schools Championships in July 2005.
He was beaten by Craig Pickering, who he now trains alongside in Bath. He equalled that time in Mannheim, Germany in July 2006. He ran a wind-assisted 10.44 seconds at the CAU Inter Counties in Bedford in May 2006.
