Team Bath Buccaneers men’s firsts will face Brooklands, Canterbury and Deeside Ramblers in the play-offs as they bid for a place in the top-flight of English hockey for their first time in their history.
Buccs won England Hockey League Conference West by 19 points to secure a place in the end of season play-offs for a berth in the Premier Division.
The play-offs take place at Cannock Hockey Club in Staffordshire from Saturday 1 May to Monday 3 May. It is a round-robin format with two of the four teams securing promotion.
Buccs will open their campaign against Brooklands, who finished ninth in the Premier Division, in a 13.45 start on Saturday 1 May.
Next they will take on Conference East winners Canterbury in a 15.30 start on Sunday 2 May. Buccs will round off their promotion push with a game against Deeside Ramblers, winners of Conference North, at 12.15 on Monday 3 May.
Buccs won 15, drew one and lost just two of their 18 Conference West games this season – one of those defeats coming 3-2 in Sunday’s game at Bournville.
Team Bath Buccaneers ladies’ firsts will feature in women’s Conference West again next season. Their first campaign playing at this level ended in a 3-2 defeat at home to Aldridge at the University of Bath on Saturday.
However, Swansea’s home defeat to Buckingham means Swansea will go through the relegation play-offs, with Buccs finishing the season just above the play-off zone in eighth.
