Team Bath clock up hat-trick of tennis titles

12 August 2010

Team Bath’s tennis players have clocked up a trio of national titles in two years.

The boys U18 squad picked up the Aegon National Junior Club League title at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton last weekend to add to titles previously won in the U16 boys and U16 girls age-groups.

Chris Helliar, Max England, Stephen Crawshaw, Toby Mitchell and Dan Elston beat Hampshire Club 8-2 in the final at Roehampton after a 10-2 win over Esporta Wearside in the semi-finals.

Crawshaw and Mitchell’s doubles win clinched the title for Team Bath after earlier singles wins from Mitchell, Crawshaw and England had made the tie look pretty safe.

“Every member of the team played superbly and showed how good they are on the national stage”, said coach James Andell. “To be the best U18 club in the country is a great achievement and testament to all the effort everyone at the Team Bath Academy puts in week in and week out”.
