Team Bath Buccaneers men’s firsts made a winning start to their 2010/11 England Hockey League Conference West campaign with a 4-2 victory at Cheltenham on Sunday.
The win came courtesy of two goals in the last 10 minutes. John Kinder gave Buccs a dream start, scoring after just two minutes, but Mark Giblin levelled up just before half-time.
Lewis Prosser put Buccs ahead again on 51 minutes, but Buccs only held on to the lead for another two minutes before Alex Hay equalised.
But Richard Bendry (61 minutes) and Tim Davenport (65 minutes) scored in the final 10 minutes of the game to see Team Bath Buccs home.
Buccs return to action on Saturday (25 September) hosting Fareham in a 12.30pn start at the Sports Training Village.
Buccs ladies went down 2-1 at home to Firebrands in a high-paced competitive opening Conference West Games of the season. Sophie Ainge scored for Firebrands on two minutes. Zoe Shipperley made it 1-1 with two minutes remaining, but Ainge grabbed a winner on the stroke of full-time.
They travel to Swansea on Saturday.
