Alex is one of the most highly-rated young, English goalkeepers in the game. He joined Team Bath on loan from parent club Reading in 2008.

In his early career he was sent out on loan to many club to gain first team experience. His exposure to first team football here at Team Bath and at other clubs helped him establish himself as Reading’s number 1 during their Premier League campaign in the 2012-2013 season. He suffered a shoulder injury in December 2012 and couldn’t stop the side being relegated, despite returning to the side in April 2013. However, he has been almost an ever-present in the Reading side since then.

His performances have earnt him plaudits from around the footballing community and have resulted in him being linked with moves to clubs including Liverpool, Juventus, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle and Swansea.

In May 2013 he became the first Reading FC youth product to gain a full England call-up, making the squad for the friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and Brazil. However he did not get any game time.
