Biography >
Janne is studying for a Psychology degree at the University of Bath – where she combines her academic studies with swimming training.

The German swimmer was in terrific form at the 2005 European Short Course Championships, winning gold in the 50m breaststroke – her first international gold medal in an individual discipline.

She followed that up with silver in the 4×50m medley relay, when the German quartet took almost a second off the previous German record and were only beaten by the Dutch relay team, who set a world record.

Just months earlier she had also won a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke at the World University Games in Turkey. She also finished eighth in the same discipline at the 2005 World Championships in Montreal – her first World Championships.

The 2006 European Short Course Championships marked another major landmark for Janne, who collected a hat-trick of medals. First she successful defended her 50m breaststroke title, then she helped Germany to victory in the 4×50m medlay relay, and she rounded off her campaign with bronze in the 100m breaststroke.
