James made the University of Bath’s National Centre for Swimming his training base in January 2017 and went on to win gold, silver and bronze during a successful World Swimming Championships later that year.

He had made his Olympic Games debut at Rio 2016 where he claimed silver in both the Men’s 4x200m Freestyle and 4x100m Medley relays, both in British record time.

Earlier in 2016 he secured the Men’s 4×100 Medley relay European title along with an individual continental bronze in the 200m Freestyle.

James showed his real potential at the 2015 World Championships by winning a breathtaking individual gold in the Men’s 200m Freestyle, followed up by a silver in the 400m Freestyle.  He achieved gold for a second time in Kazan, sensationally anchoring the 4x200m freestyle relay to a historic gold medal and onto the top of the podium.

The 2015 season also saw him claim two British titles at the London Aquatics Centre in the 200m and 400m Freestyle event.

James will look to add to his international medal collection in 2018 after being selected by Team England for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
