Biography >
Powerful midfielder Steve Abbott joined Team Bath in the summer of 2006 from Leigh RMI. Previously he played for Congleton Town and St Helens Town. He was now a student at the University of Bath.
Steve was a member of the England Universities team that won the 2006 British University Games title with a 100 per cent record.
He made his Team Bath FC competitive debut against Cheshunt on the opening day of the 2006/7 season, when he had the ball in the back of the Cheshunt net twice in two minutes – both efforts were ruled offside.
Abbott, who made more than 100 appearances for Team Bath after joining the club in 2006, was snapped up by Wrexham manager Dean Saunders in 2008 after impressing during a trial with the club.
Steve spent two years in the Blue Square Premier with Wrexham, with a portion of that time on loan at TNS (The New Saints), before moving on to AFC Telford in June 2010. He won promotion from the Blue Square North with Telford that season and was then signed by Northwich Victoria manager Andy Preece.
Preece left Northwich Victoria in January 2013 to became Director of Football at Airbus UK in the Welsh Premier League. Impressed by Steve Abbott during their time together at Northwich Victoria, Preece signed Steve for Airbus UK that September.
