Biography >
Zara began playing indoor volleyball for clubs and part of the national team. She went to university in Sheffield where she completed her degree and played volleyball for Loughborough club. Zara then decided to make a transition to beach volleyball and move to Bath to be part of the GB programme in a bid to compete at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Zara has competed internationally with Shauna Mullin since 2009 and the pair established themselves as top-ranked GB pair. When they were selected to compete at the London 2012 Olympics at the start of July they were ranked number 37 in the world.
London 2012 – Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin won their opening contest at Horse Guards Parade but lost the next two prelims and the lucky losers – but their performances has inspired more interest in the sport.
