Biography:
As a junior he attended the LTA Rover School at Bisham Abbey and is a former member of Aughton Tennis Club.
Barry was a versatile sportsman in his junior years and aside from tennis he represented the North of England at under-15 level hockey.
After success in junior tournaments, he first competed at the All England Club in 1994 as a wild card. He then continued to appear regularly in Grand Slam
Competitive Record:
Barry turned professional at the age of 17 in 1991.
At 26 yrs old he reached World No.265 and British No.6.
In September 2001, Cowan played in his only Davis Cup singles match representing Britain in a World Group Qualifier against Ecuador.
He reached the 2nd round of Wimbledon twice in his career. With his wild card into SW19 in 2001 Barry was up against Pete Sampras in the 2nd round. He took Sampras to five sets in an epic Battle.
