University of Bath Sport & Exercise Science graduate Biography Dale achieved a personal best points total for the decathlon of 7413 to finish fifth representing Guernsey at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games in a competition won by England’s Dean Macey. Dale won three of the 10 disciplines – the long jump, 400m and 1500m – was also second in the 100m and third in the 110m hurdles. It was a strong performance in what Dale said would be his last decathlon – he is now concentrating on his best individual discipline – the 400m hurdles.

Dale finished second in the 400m hurdles behind the then Commonwealth champion, Chris Rawlinson, at the 2004 AAAs Championships and was again runner-up the following year. The versatile all-rounder was ninth in the decathlon at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games with 6919 points. As well as being an athlete Dale is also a part-time masseur.
