David Sammel, a former professional tennis player, helped found the MCTAGroup in 2006.
He has over 20 years experience in coaching international players, many of whom have represented their countries in Davis Cup including Great Britain (Cowan, Maclagan, Richardson, Delgado, Parmar and Lee), Finland (Kontinen) and South Africa (Moodie, Haggard, Koenig) and the Olympics (Barry Cowan, Sydney 2000).
He has also coached numerous GB National Champions including the 2010 under 18 Champion, attended most major tournaments around the world with players ranging from world class juniors to players in Grand Slams.
Prior to 2002 he coached on the tour before being appointed Head Coach of an LTA National Academy (2002-2006).
He was appointed President of the independent professional coaching body, TenniscoachUK in 2009 and his expertise in mental skills has led to numerous presentations, workshops and consultancy work in both tennis and other sports.
His clients include England Rugby, Chelsea, Bolton, Hull and Fulham Football Clubs.
The majority of his time is spent working with the TEAMBATH-MCTA partnership, the leading International High Performance tennis academy in the UK.
His book Locker Room Power: Building an Athlete’s Mind is due for was published to excellent reviews.
Top 10 junior in SA, College player 1979 for University of Texas/graduated North Texas ‘80-’82, world ranked pro combined with contract for de Metselaers club, Holland 85-87, and Manchester Mortgage Corporation pro league ‘86/’87.
