Score: Team Bath 6 – 4 Hereford
Venue: Home, Founders Hall, University of Bath
In their penultimate home league match of the season Team Bath entertained Hereford.
Team Bath won the game 6-4 in relative comfort.
The home side started the game really strongly going into a 3-0 lead inside 10 minutes. Goals from Kitson, Ingram and a wonderful individual goal by Gardiner left the away side stunned.
The movement off the ball by the Bath players was a very high quality early one allowing them to create several chances and taking three of them.
Hereford were resigned during the game to playing on the break and did catch Bath out a couple of times with long throws from their goal keeper. Hereford managed to steal two goals late on in the first half to make it 3-2 at the break. The first was sloppy defending by Bath before a great opportunity for Baththat was missed let Hereford in on the counter attack which they scored.
At half time Bath regrouped and started the second half in good fashion scoring early on again through Parkes. Bath then dominated possession for the rest of the half playing as a five at times working on the powerplay with some success. They scored a another through an own goal to make it 5-2.
However, with relative comfort came a drop in tempo that let Hereford back into the game. Once again through quick breaks and Bath not taking their opportunities in attack allowed Hereford with a glimpse at getting back into the game.
Even at 5-4 Bath were still in control and Ingram rounded off a good individual performance with his second in the game.
At times Bath played some lovely Futsal but have to be patient and must pick the attacking opportunities to score and defensive opportunities to win the ball back a little better moving forward.
Tomorrow the team play Nnewbury in their last home league match of the season aiming to reach their highest points total in 4 seasons and gain a 3rd place finish in the league.
