Biography >
Stefanie is an outstanding young long distance swimmer who has already proved she can compete with the very best in the world.

She won silver in the 5k open water race at the 2004 European Championships in Madrdi. And at the 2006 European Championships in Budapest she added a bronze to her personal medal haul in the gruelling 25k open water race, finished just 10.4 seconds behind the gold medallist after five and a half hours of swimming.

She transferred from Germany to train in Bath in the summer of 2006 to combine her training with studying for a Foundation Degree in Sports Performance at the University of Bath.

Stefanie trains at the University alongside her partner and fellow open water swimmer Alan Bircher – the pair are coached by Andrei Vorontsov.
