Students feature for Bath in sevens tournie

University of Bath students were out in fordce for the Bath team that just missed out on a place in the grand final of the JP Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby Sevens at Twickenham.

Five current University of Bath students and three who are due to start in the new academic year featured in Bath’s 12-strong squad.

Bath won one match out of three, but also picked up two crucial bonus points to eliminate Exeter in the preliminary group stage.

In final group B Bath they were beaten by eventual finalists Saracens 7-38 but they then came back to win 28-12 against Sale Sharks. This put in joint third overall in the tournament.

The Bath team included current students Paul Roberts (Politics with Economics), Tom Heathcote (Politics with Economics), Matt Keyte (Coach Education and Sports Development), Will Skuse (Chemistry) and James Tyas (Coach Education and Sports Development) as well as Freddie Gabbitas, who wil start a degree in Coach Education and Sports Development shortly, as well as Joe Buckle and Alex Brown who will both study Sports Performance.
