Two University of Bath-based athletes have been named on shortlists for prestigious European Athletics awards.
Dai Greene is named on the shortlist for the 2011 European Athlete of the Year award and University of Bath student Jack Green features on the European Rising Star award shortlist.
The awards will be determined by an online vote via the European Athletics website with polls open until Monday 26 September – so vote now.
Dai Greene is on a 12-strong shortlist for the male European Athlete of the Year after an outstanding season that saw him add the World Championship 400m hurdles crown in Daegu to the European and Commonwealth titles he won last year. He also won Diamond League races in Lausanne and Birmingham and took the overall Diamond Race prize for the 400m hurdles.
Fellow 400m hurdler Jack Green is on a shortlist of 13 athletes in the men’s European Rising Star award. Jack, who is studying Sports Performance at the University of Bath, won gold at this year’s European Under-23 Championships and just missed out on a place in the final at the World Championships on his senior debut in a GB vest. Please note, when voting for Jack, the European Athletics website has Jack’s name as Jack Greene.
Dai and Jack are both coached by Malcolm Arnold – UK Athletics National Events Coach – Hurdles.
You can find out further details about the awards on the European Athletics website.
The deadline for votes is Monday 26 September and the awards will be presented at European Athletics Convention in Tenerife, on Saturday 15 October.
