Bath aim to maintain winning form in varsity clash

09 November 2011

The University of Bath men’s first XV tackle their Exeter University counterparts in this year’s big south west varsity match in Exeter tonight (Wednesday 9 November).

The two teams go head to head at Exeter Chiefs’ Sandy Park Stadium ground at 7.30pm – with around 5000 fans expected to turn out in supports of the sides.

The game is also a British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Premier South A fixture.  The University of Bath currently top the table with four wins from four games.

Despite the University of Bath team’s impressive start to the season, Aaron James, head rugby coach, said his team will take nothing for granted.

“Our aim it to keep our unbeaten run going. We’re really pleased with our results, but we haven’t seen a really, really good performance from us yet,” he said.

“We’re pleased with the way it’s going, but four wins doesn’t make a season,” he added. “Exeter are always a strong team and we haven’t beaten them away in many years, although the games between the two teams have always been fairly close.

“It will be a fairly boisterous atmosphere, but all the boys are looking forward to it.”

IPL are the University of Bath first  XV shirt sponsor and Optimum Nutrition are shorts sponsors.
