Score: Team Bath 4 – 3 Team United Birmingham
Venue: Founders Hall, University of Bath
Team Bath remain top of the National League Midlands Division after winning a pulsating game against Team United Birmingham 4-3.
In front of a good crowd the hosts started at an electric pace moving the ball well creating one or two half chances with Jennings at the back post going closest.
The visitors slowly got a grip of the games pace and did start catching Bath on the break through pressing the ball defensively.
Half way through the first half Kitson lost possession and Team United capitalised on the opportunity to score on the counter attack.
A few minutes later Team United doubled their lead as Bath gave their opponents too much space close to goal allowing a low shot to find its way passed Lima in the Bath goal.
After a time out Bath regrouped, did not panic and slowly began pressing defensively to win the ball back quicker. It worked as the home side began attacking in waves.
Team United started to show gaps in their defence as Ingram found Parkes to score from close range to bring it back to 2-1.
As the pressure built on the visitors they began giving more fouls away and subsequently they gave away the sixth foul on Parkes thus penalised with a 10m penalty. Parkes stepped up and scored to bring it back to 2-2 right on half time.
In the second half Bath now began to assert their control over the game keeping the ball for longer whilst rushing Team United in attack.
Clarke, Dorin and Jennings all went close but the home side could not find a winner. Then from a set piece corner, Parkes found Yilmaz at the back post to make it 3-2 with just three minutes left that looked like the winner.
However, Team United were not finished they kept pushing forward and from a blocking a Bath shot broke down the other end and finished off a 2v1 move to bring the scores level at 3-3.
Seemingly with less than a minute left the game was heading for a draw.
Nevertheless, Bath this year has a new mentality a winning attitude and in key moments the team is stepping up to the plate and delivering.
With 33 seconds left Kitson picked the ball up centrally and flicked the ball over the Team United defence for Parkes to run onto, he round the goal keeper and slotted the ball home completing his hat trick and ensuring a very important win for Bath 4-3.
Team Bath now has two away games before the Christmas break starting with a tough away trip to Cardiff next Sunday.
The team is playing well but must continue to march on in search of reaching the National Play Offs.
