Bath travelled to league leaders Buckingham this Saturday, aiming to follow up on a great win against ISCA the previous weekend.

Team Bath were under pressure from the start, and Buckingham took the lead in the third minute through a fortuitous deflection which caught the Bath defence unaware, despite Laura Gummer’s heroic attempts to prevent it trickling past her.

Bath went down to 10-players mid way through the first half, following a ‘misunderstanding’ with one the umpires, however Bath rallied and made it to half time still only 1-0 down thanks, in part, to the fantastically versatile Rachel Jackson in defence…

The second half saw Team Bath withstand more Buckingham pressure, with Mandy Ferebee pulling off some great saves to keep Bath it touch.

Bath improved again though and, with man of the match Zoe Shipperly starting to pick holes in the Buckingham defence, Bath created some chances of their own.

A surging run from Lucy McNaught gave Jess Cremin a chance to score from a penalty corner, but she was denied by a good save from the Buckingham keeper.

However, mid way through the second half, Buckingham won a penalty corner of their own and converted through a good deflection.

Both teams had further chances as the game opened up, with players from both teams picking up cards, but neither team could convert and the game ended in a well-fought 2-0 loss for Bath.
