Zambia 2012 Team Announced

The Zambia IDEALS Project has announced its 2012 team.

The following students will representing the University of Bath contingent of the Wallace Group this year >

Emily Nicholls

Final Year BA Coach Education & Sports Development Student and Netball Specialist. Emily was on Placement with Team Bath Netball last year.

Tom Browne

Final Year BA Coach Education & Sports Development student and Football Specialist. Tom was also on placement with Team Bath last year working with the Football Coach Education Team. Tom is also heavily involved with England Table Tennis.

Steph Gubas

Final Year BSc Biology Student and Netball Specialist. Held the Position of Treasurer for the University Netball Club in 2010/11 and holds the position of Social Secretary this year.

Ibrahim Abouelfadl

First Year Foundation Degree In Sports Coaching. Ibby is a keen footballer and also a member of the University boxing club.

The Department of Sports Development & Recreation is an active participant in a Sports Leadership Project which takes place in Zambia each year.

Students who are selected to participate work in a sports development and coaching capacity in the heart of local communities in the Zambian capital of Lusaka.

International Development Through Excellence and Leadership in Sport or IDEALS is a UK Sport initiative which aims to establish a high quality, progressive and co-ordinated sports leadership development exchange programme for young people aged 20-35 between the  UK and partner countries.

In 2011 the Wallace Group (Universities of Bath, Durham, Loughborough, Nothumbria, St Andrews, Stirling and UWIC) sent over 30 students and six staff members on professionals placements working with two Non Government Organisations based in Lusaka, Zambia, Sport in Action and Edusport as part of the IDEALS programme.
