The Bath City U21 Development Squad played its inaugural match today (Tuesday 6 December 2011) at Twerton Park against their counterparts from Exeter City.

The friendly finished with honours even after the Gecians fought back from City’s early two-goal lead.

City’s Hector Mackie scored the opening goal of the match with a wonderful solo drive from the right to strike home from twenty yards.

The Romans doubled their lead not long after when Andre Carvallo-Landell tapped in a short range goal set up by Nick Lawton.

Exeter pulled a goal back just before half time, and got an equaliser in the second half with a speculative shot that skidded through City keeper Austin Byfield’s hands.

The City team, which had only met for two training sessions prior to the match, was composed of Bath City trialists, Bath City Academy players, and University of Bath first team players.

The team is managed by University of Bath Head of Football Lee Smith with assistance from Bath City Academy manager Billy Clark.
