Swimmers Jamieson and Dickons are our Athletes of the Month

Swimmers Michael Jamieson and Jess Dickons are Team Bath’s latest Athletes of the Month award winners following impressive performances at the European Short Course Championships.

Team Bath’s Athlete of the Month award highlights the achievements of athletes training at the University of Bath and is sponsored jointly by Oakley UK and Ellis and Killpartrick Opticians of New Bond Street, Bath.

Jamieson and Dickons are both University of Bath students who train at the British Swimming Intensive Training Centre in Bath.

Jamieson picked up bronze in the 200m breaststroke in a new British Record of 2.03.77 at the European Short Course Championships in Poland, with fellow Bath ITC swimmer Andrew Willis setting an English record to finish seventh in the same final. Jamieson also came seventh in the 100m breaststroke.

Jess Dickons pictured with her gold medalDickons rounded off an impressive 2011 that saw her capture gold at the World University Games in the summer by taking bronze in the 100m butterfly at last month’s European Short Course Championships.

Both swimmers are preparing for the Olympic Trials in March on a training camp in Australia, and will pick up their award with February’s winners.
