Match Report Hockey: England Hockey League – Conference West (Ladies)
Fixture: Team Bath Buccaneers v Swansea
Date and time: Sunday 19 February 2012
Score: TBB 0-1 Swansea
Venue: University of Bath, Sports Training Village
The Ladies firsts took on second place Swansea on a day with much better weather than the day before!
After a good warm up, Buccs started confidently, transferring the ball well and keeping good shape.
The defence of Rachel Jackson, Pip Barnes and Laura Gummer kept the Swansea attacks at bay and great central play from captain Zoe Shipperley and man of the match Kirsty Hoskins allowed bath to create chances but unfortunately they failed to convert.
Swansea eventually managed to break through the defence scoring a scrappy goal that left them 1-0 up.
At the other end Buccs were unlucky not to score having a waist height shot saved off the line and Bex Walkers follow up reverse stick shot well saved by the Swansea keeper.
Team Bath continued their hard work rate and played well but were unable to score and steal a point.
However the performance bodes well for next weekends double header.
