Date and time: Sunday 19 February 2012
Score: TBB 6-1 Litchfield
Venue: University of Bath, Sports Training Village
Team Bath Buccaneers continued their fine form in the West Conference with a 6-1 home win over Lichfield on Sunday.
Buccs have now won eleven games in a row in the division and top the table by eleven points.
Buccs took the lead in the fifteenth minute when young striker Tom Alsop fired in a shot on his reverse past the helpless Lichfield keeper. They doubled their lead nine minutes later when Tim Davenport flicked home their first penalty corner of the afternoon.
Davenport then had a penalty stroke saved before the visitors reduced the lead to just one goal when Adrian Gilbert finished well past Tom Skinner.
Phil Ball restored Bucc’s two goal advantage three minutes before the break when he also flicked home from a penalty.
Buccs seemed to step up a gear in the second half and ran in three unanswered goals to send their opponents home on the receiving end of a big defeat.
Captain Matt Ruxton, as he did last week, struck the opening goal of the second half, finishing well from a penalty corner rebound. Alsop then got his second of the game, deflecting a sublime Dave Devey pass high into the roof of the net.
Davenport rounded off the scoring, flicking another penalty corner high into the net on the final whistle.
Buccs face Cardiff & UWIC next Sunday who are in fifth place and are amongst a group of around four teams within a point or two of each other.
Buccs beat them 2-1 earlier in the season but were made to work hard by the newly promoted team.
