Trio of swimmers collect awards

University of Bath-based swimmers Hayley Towner, Jess Dickons and Michael Jamieson are the latest winners of Team Bath’s Performance of the Month awards, which are supported by Oakley and Ellis and Killpartrick of New Bond Street in Bath.

The trio, who train at British Swimming’s Bath Intensive Training Centre (ITC), are currently preparing to compete at the Olympic trials in early March.

They picked up awards they had won in previous months after having recently returned from a seven-week training camp in Australia.

Hayley won the female Performance of the Month award after winning gold’s in the 100m and 400m freestyle and silver in the 200m freestyle at the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) Short Course Championships.

Michael and Jess were awarded the Performance of the Month for January after picking up bronze medals at the European Short Course Championships in Poland.

The trio are all University of Bath students and are Intensive Training Centre Swimming Scholars.

All three swimmers will join the rest of the ITC Squad along with other swimmers from the University of Bath Performance Squad to compete at the Olympic
Trials in the new Olympic venue with the aim of qualification for this year’s Games.

The winners for February were unable to attend the presentation, awards went to Sports Performance student Danny Talbot after his win over World 100m bronze medallist Kim Collins in the 200m at the Aviva International Match in Glasgow and British skeleton athlete Lizzy Yarnold, who won the World Junior Championships.
